Bajo un manto de tierra seca se arropa cada noche. Su sueño es solo mundo y pensamiento en un sitio muy cercano. Se presenta como una superficie amplia y paciente, dotada de una gravedad propia es capaz de conocer a través de aquello que toca.
Suele privarnos de su contacto más íntimo y tan solo se revela cuando trenza las raíces de sus manos o cuando sus criaturas despiertan la memoria de sus glándulas sensitivas. Cuentan que eligió brotar de forma voluntaria bajo el azul oscuro y que florece en un lugar indeterminado al calor del sol.
A veces sostiene obstinada la salvaguarda de las criaturas y en la duda del cuidado, se agrieta furiosa elevando su fuerza ascendente hasta que sobrepasa el punto de rotura. Conocerla exige abandonar su dominación para poner en marcha un ejercicio de escucha lenta.
Beneath a mantle of dry earth she wraps herself each night. Her dream is only world and thought in a very nearby place. She presents herself as a broad and patient surface, endowed with her own gravity, capable of knowing through what she touches.
She often deprives us of her most intimate contact and reveals herself only when she braids the roots of her hands or when her creatures awaken the memory of her sensory glands. It is said that she chose to sprout voluntarily beneath the dark blue and that she blooms in an indeterminate place in the warmth of the sun.
At times she stubbornly upholds the safeguarding of creatures and, in the doubt of care, she cracks furiously, raising her ascending force until it surpasses the breaking point. To know her requires abandoning her domination in order to set in motion an exercise of slow listening.
Irati Inoriza (Balmaseda, Bizkaia, 1992), es artista y doctoranda en Investigación en Arte Contemporáneo por la Universidad del País Vasco, especializó sus estudios en el Atelier de Performance de la Universidad de Brno (R. Checa, 2013/14). Seleccionada en el Premio Generación 2024 de la Casa Encendida (Madrid) y Basque Artist Program Guggenheim 2024 (Bilbao-Nueva York), fue ganadora del IX Premio a la producción artística de la Fundación Banco Santander con Open Studio 2021 (Madrid) y Premio Exposición Casal Solleric 2017 (Palma de Mallorca).
Su trabajo cuestiona las formas socialmente impuestas y heredadas en que adquirimos una identidad concreta, a partir de la vinculación de cuerpos, imágenes, objetos y materiales que escenifican nuestra cotidianidad y contexto. Desde el ejercicio de descontextualizar y resignificar, genera instalaciones de escultura, vídeo y performance donde encontrar formas para imaginar y construir realidades alternativas.
Su trabajo ha sido parte de Babestu AZ-Alhóndiga 2020/21 (Bilbao), Barriek 2020 (Bilbao), INJUVE 2018/19 (Madrid) y BilbaoArte 2016 (Bilbao). Además de participar en exposiciones realizadas en Intermediae-Matadero (Madrid, 2023/24), RAUMMG16 (Colonia, 2022), Ateljéföreningen Hospitalet (Upsala, Suecia, 2022), La Capella (Barcelona, 2021), Sala Rekalde (Bilbao, 2020), Festival LOOP (Barcelona, 2020), Pablo’s Birthday (Nueva York, EE. UU., 2019), ZSenne Art Lab (Bruselas, Bélgica, 2019), Centro Cultural Montehermoso (Vitoria-Gasteiz, 2019), A-DASH Space (Atenas, Grecia, 2018), Okela (Bilbao, 2016) o en Farm Cultural Park (Favara, Italia, 2014) entre otros.
Irati Inoriza (Balmaseda, Bizkaia, 1992) is an artist and PhD candidate in Contemporary Art Research at the University of the Basque Country. She specialized her studies at the Performance Atelier of the University of Brno (Czech Republic, 2013/14). Selected for the Generación 2024 Award at La Casa Encendida (Madrid) and the Basque Artist Program Guggenheim 2024 (Bilbao–New York), she was the winner of the 9th Artistic Production Prize of Fundación Banco Santander with Open Studio 2021 (Madrid) and the Casal Solleric Exhibition Prize 2017 (Palma de Mallorca).
Her work questions the socially imposed and inherited ways in which we acquire a specific identity, through the linking of bodies, images, objects, and materials that stage our everyday life and context. Through the exercise of decontextualizing and resignifying, she creates installations of sculpture, video, and performance in which to find ways to imagine and construct alternative realities.
Her work has been part of Babestu AZ-Alhóndiga 2020/21 (Bilbao), Barriek 2020 (Bilbao), INJUVE 2018/19 (Madrid), and BilbaoArte 2016 (Bilbao).
